Fire broke out at a home in the 6100 block of Terrebonne Road around 9am. The home was completely destroyed, along with a vehicle and a tractor-trailer. A nearby house was protected from the flames.
At about 2:30pm, officials discovered the body of a victim in the home. The remains have not been identified, but attempted to reach the homeowner have been unsuccessful.
The body has been sent to the Galveston County Medical Examiner's Office for identification.
