A Dallas County jury sentenced a man who killed his estranged wife's lover to a 15 years in prison after finding that the shooting was an act of "sudden passion" committed after receiving a graphic photo of his wife and the man engaged in a sex act.

The jury Thursday found that 47-year-old Mark Lynn Milligan of Garland shot Jesus Dominguez in an act of "sudden passion," which downgraded his punishment range. Prosecutors had sought a sentence of 25 years to life. Milligan could be eligible for parole in 7 1/2 years.

The Dallas Morning News reports that earlier in the day, jurors had convicted Milligan in the killing of the 36-year-old tattoo artist in October 2011.

It's unclear whether Milligan's wife or Dominguez sent the photo.
