Empty homes burn in northeast Houston

HOUSTON

One fire happened on Parker near Westbrook Road. No one was home when the fire started around 11pm Friday.

When crews arrived, most of the flames were concentrated on the roof. Firefighters said the home burned for several minutes before someone called 911.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire.

Another blaze erupted at a home on Madera near Thorn Street. Flames were shooting more than 20 feet into the air, officials said.

Firefighters believe the home was occupied but that residents were away when the fire started. The house was heavily damaged. Arson investigators were on scene.
