Tropical Depression #8 forms in central Atlantic; not expected to be a threat to the US

MIAMI, FL

The National Hurricane Center in Miami said Wednesday the depression had formed about 595 miles (958 kilometers) east of Bermuda with winds of 35 mph (56 kph). The depression is moving north and is expected to turn toward the northeast Thursday.

The depression could become a tropical storm later Wednesday or on Thursday.
