Dallas police shootings prompt policy changes

DALLAS, TX

The announcement Friday comes after several police-involved shootings. The latest was a drug suspect during a foot pursuit last month that led to a tension between officers and residents of the neighborhood where the shooting occurred.

Officer Brian Rowden chased James Harper in a pursuit punctuated by three fights. Rowden, believing his life in jeopardy, finally shot the man dead.

Brown said the FBI Civil Rights Office has been asked to review all future officer-involved shootings. Also, all future suspect resistance to arrest will be investigated. He also promised efforts to enhance communications between the Dallas Police Department and neighborhoods with frequent crime.
