Man who turned 100 today thanks KTRK photographer for saving his life

HOUSTON

More than two dozen people gathered at the Briar Club on Timmons Lane to celebrate the life of Myron Steves. But he wanted to celebrate the man who saved his life -- ABC13 photojournalist Chris Graczyk.

The last time they saw each other, Steves was inside his stalled out Cadillac, floating down a washed out road in southwest Houston. Graczyk got into a pickup truck with another man to rescue him. On Wednesday, Steves thanked him for taking the risk.

"If it hadn't been for you, I wouldn't make to 99, I wouldn't make it to 100," Steves said.

"I'm glad I was able to help. It worked out," Graczyk said.

Steves joked about the rescue at his party, claiming he wanted the insurance money.
