A man accused of breaking into a woman's home in Galveston was behind bars Saturday and lucky the woman's ammunition wasn't any more dangerous. She shot him several times with yellow paintballs.

According to Galveston police, 53-year-old Elvis Alexander broke into the woman's home in the 1100 block of 36th Street around 10:30am Friday.

The woman was inside the home at the time, hiding from the accused burglar while he stole coins and food, police said.

An officer arrived and heard the shots fired. He reportedly ran inside and saw Alexander covered -- not in blood, but in paint.

Alexander did not require medical attention. He was arrested and charged with burglary of a habitation. Bond was set at $40,000.
