Naked man on unicycle cited in Kemah

KEMAH, TX

People driving by couldn't believe what they were seeing -- a naked man riding a unicycle. And no, this is not a joke.

Kemah police tell me they've been getting calls from all over the country about this bizarre story. The chief gave us the bare facts about this unusual arrest.

Police scanner: "Heading north, riding a unicycle and he is not wearing any clothes."

It was the interesting police call and dash cam video of a naked unicyclist that's becoming the big buzz across Kemah right now.

"I think it's hysterical," said Kemah resident Brian McCollough. "I think, why not? He said it feels good, let him have it. Why'd they take him to jail?"

Police say the man baring it all on the Kemah Bridge was Joseph Glynn Farley of Clear Lake. Drivers passing the bridge say they've seen the man unicycling here all week. However Farley was fully clothed. That is, until moments after police began receiving calls Wednesday afternoon about Farley swerving in and out of traffic.

Kemah Police Chief Greg Rikard said, "It wasn't probably 15 to 20 minutes later we get another phone call that he's now naked heading over the bridge."

Police say Farley was distracting drivers, giving them an eyeful.

"I just think it's funny," said Kemah resident Natosha Smith. "I'm just mad that I missed it. I would have liked to have seen it."

Farley was arrested and charged with indecent exposure.

Chief Rikard said simply, "He was naked."

We found out the 45-year-old is an unemployed educator. Police say they aren't aware of the man having a history of mental illness. Still some folks in Kemah say the arrested guy's becoming the butt of a lot of jokes.

"Maybe we should start a rally," McCollough suggested. "Free the unicyclist."

Farley is being held in jail on a $1,500 bond. The police chief says Farley told him looking back, he regrets what he did.
