Man in fedora, suit accused of robbing gold shop

HOUSTON

According to court documents, Mohammad Hashim walked into a Gold and Silver Buyers store in the 10900 block of Louetta on March 27 and robbed the store. Hashim was wearing a black fedora hat, black suit, dress shirt and tie, and was carrying a bag. The clerk behind the counter says Hashim unbuttoned his jacket, pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim, saying, "You know what this is, give me the gold and cash."

The clerk told investigators he gave Hashim $3,900 in cash and a pair of gold earrings. He says Hashim then told him to lie down on the floor, at which point Hashim fled the store.

Court documents state the clerk recognized Hashim as a previous customer who had done business at the store in the past. Investigators obtained Hashim's driver's license from the previous transaction. The clerk picked Hashim out of a photo array, investigators say.

Hashim, 21, is charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. No bond has been set in this case.
