The fatal traffic accident happened in the 12400 block of West Bellfort about 4:15am on Saturday. Jimmy Te, Jr., 19, of Sugar Land, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jokari Nicole Henton, 33, is charged with driving while intoxicated and unlawfully carrying a weapon in Fort Bend County.
Police say that according to witnesses, Te, who appeared intoxicated, was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a silver Toyota Corolla driven by Henton. Te died at the scene.
Further investigation determined Henton showed signs of intoxication and she was taken into custody at the scene, police say. Since the incident occurred in Fort Bend County, the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene.
Charges were filed by the Fort Bend County District Attorney's Office.
