Tour de Houston bike event helps reforest the city

HOUSTON

Participants rode through Houston's east end, Brady's Landing, Ellington Airport, Johnson Space Center and back to city hall on 20-, 40- and 60-mile rides.

The ride was brought back this year by Apache Corporation after a lack of funding kept it from happening last year.

Funds raised from the ride will go to reforestation projects in the city, which are needed because of the recent drought.

Tour de Houston is also a recommended ride for training for the BP MS-150 ride from Houston to Austin.
