Rockets' Budinger to compete in Slam Dunk contest

HOUSTON

Rockets Forward Chase Budinger has been named one of the four players vying for the high-flying title in the Spring Slam Dunk Championship on February 25 in Orlando. Budinger will be joined by Indiana's Paul George, New York's Iman Shumpert and Minnesota's Derrick Williams.

"I'm very excited about being a part of the Slam Dunk competition," said Budinger in a press release issued by the team on Thursday. "I grew up watching some of the great dunk competitions of the late 90's and I'm honored to be asked to participate in this year's event. It seems like every year, the bar gets raised on this competition and I'm looking forward to coming up with something fresh and exciting for this year's contest."

Buddinger, who stands 6-foot-7, will be the fourth Rocket representative in the competition, following Ralph Sampson, Kenny Smith and Steve Francis.
