Man wanted for stealing $40,000 worth of wigs, weaves from NW Houston business

HOUSTON

The alleged theft happened around 4am January 25 at a business in the 11300 block of Veterans Memorial Drive in Houston.

According to court documents, 30-year-old Adrian Dewayne Graves and an unknown accomplice stole 200 wigs and 200 weaves. In all, the hair was worth about $40,000.

They also took $400 out of the cash register and caused about $10,000 in damage to a wall in the store, officials said.

Investigators had the thieves on security surveillance video, stealing the hair and taking it out of the store in black trash bags, but they were unable to identify them.

Five days later, the same business was hit again.

Officials said Graves and an accomplice broke into the building and were caught remotely on video by the store owner, who called police.

Graves was arrested and charged with burglary of a business with attempt to commit theft. He was later released on a $15,000 bond.

Police said they reviewed the surveillance footage from the original burglary, connecting Graves and his accomplice to that crime as well. He was charged with theft on Friday.

Graves had not been arrested on the new charge as of Monday afternoon. He is expected to appear in court Tuesday.

Investigators have not yet identified Graves' partner. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
