Nadia Singh, 33, and Bittu Ommen Zacharia, 34, both of Houston, are charged with abandoning a child. According to court documents, the child was found by a neighbor in the parking lot of the Brae Acres condominiums on 8787 Brae Acres at around 6:20pm on Tuesday .
That neighbor took the child to the apartment at which she believed the child lives. No one answered the door, so the neighbor called police from another neighbor's home.
Police arrived and entered Singh's apartment, and while they were investigating, Zacharia, Singh's husband, arrived home. Police say Zacharia told them that Singh mentioned that she was taking a test and would be leaving at 6pm and wouldn't return until 10pm. He also says she told him she was leaving the child alone.
Bail is set for Singh and Zacharia at $2,000 apiece.
