Man charged with raping woman he met online

HOUSTON

The victim told police in Nassau Bay that she met Michael Earl Richmond, 23, on a dating site called PlentyOfFish.com. They began a conversation and agreed to meet in person on December 29, 2011. They met in a parking lot, where Richmond got into the victim's vehicle. They drove to a Nassau Bay park to sit and talk.

While they were in the victim's vehicle, she told police Richmond began to touch her sexually and she asked him to stop. He reportedly refused, and she said became scared since he is a larger person.

The woman says despite her pleas to stop, Richmond raped her while putting his hands around her neck and choking her. She said she was afraid for her life, and returned him to his vehicle following the assault.

In a statement to police, Richmond reportedly admitted having sex with the victim and ignoring her when she told him to stop. The victim identified Richmond from a police photo lineup.

Bail has been set at $30,000 in the case.
