A police chase that crossed two counties ended with a trip to the hospital for the runaway driver.

The shirtless suspect was taken into custody after slamming into a utility pole along the Katy freeway and Kirkwood early Friday morning.

Houston police say the chase started in Fort Bend County after sheriff's deputies received a call about a possible family violence issue. When authorities arrived, they say they found the suspect in his girlfriend's pickup truck and that he refused to stop, leading authorities on a chase through Ft. Bend Co. and then down side streets in Houston before it ended.

After being taken into custody, the suspect was transported to the hospital for what appeared to be minor injuries.

Authorities say charges are still pending.
