The accident happened around 3:30am Sunday on S. Shaver St. at Wald Rd.
Police said the victim was driving east on S. Shaver when he got a flat tire. He pulled over to the side of the road and got out of his car to check on it.
According to officials, he was apparently standing in the roadway when another car hit him.
The striking vehicle did not stop.
Police said the victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he later died. His name has not been released.
There were no witnesses and no there is no suspect vehicle information available.
