Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested and charged a Fresno man for kidnapping early Thursday morning.

Kristopher O'Neal, 31, was arrested at Memorial Hermann Hospital following an incident that began at a convenience store in the 9000 block of Highway 6 South near Bissonnet. According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, a couple had stopped at the store at about 3:30am, and while the male was inside paying for gas, another patron walked in and said a man had just hit his date, took her out of his car and forced her into another vehicle.

The man then got into his own vehicle to go looking for his abducted date and spotted a Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office deputy, telling him about the incident.

After a short investigation, deputies learned O'Neal was a former boyfriend of the woman. Deputies later found out the woman had been transported to Memorial Hermann after sustaining injuries.

Investigators took O'Neal into custody at the hospital. How the woman was injured has yet to be determined, but she remains in the hospital in Houston.

O'Neal is in the Fort Bend County Jail. A bond amount has not been set.
