Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $10,000 reward to any individual that can lead authorities to the apprehension and filing of charges on the suspect who set a fire in the Needville area on Wednesday, September 7.

Crime Stoppers normally offers rewards up to $5,000, and now a property owner has stepped forward with an additional $5,000.

The Fort Bend County Fire Marshal's Office determined the fire was set at the corner of a pasture on Foster School Road near Brinkmeyer, according to the Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers.

The Needville Fire Department was the lead agency battling what became known as the Baker Road Fire. More than 20 fire departments and more than 100 firefighters from Fort Bend, Wharton and Brazoria counties responded to the blaze.

The fire traveled southwest from its starting point and jumped Baker Road. The Fire Marshal's Office estimates the fire covered about 400 acres. It also destroyed one barn and another facility that contained two vehicles and a travel trailer.

Lane Aviation of Rosenberg also made water drops during the effort, and Fort Bend County Road and Bridge Department had bulldozers and other equipment on the scene. One firefighter was injured and taken to OakBend Medical Center during the incident.
