Motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run accident

A motorcyclist was killed Saturday after being struck in by a vehicle in far west Houston, police said.

It happened early Saturday morning in the 2300 block of Barker Cypress.

Witnesses told investigators the blue Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was northbound on Barker Cypress.

Police said the rider failed to stay in a single lane and the motorcycle hit a curb, causing the rider to fall.

According to investigators, a white sport utility vehicle came up behind the motorcycle and rider, northbound on Barker Cypress. That's when police said the driver of the SUV ran over the motorcyclist.

The SUV driver did not stop, officials said. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the male victim, 25, of Katy, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The accident remains under investigation.
