Smith told The Associated Press that Nina Sheree Means was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police say a family member called 911 early Thursday after arriving home and finding the pair shot.
Autopsies have been ordered. Police are seeking a motive for the shootings.
Killeen is 60 miles north of Austin.
