At Discovery Green they are giving away tickets -- sure, they are for the Houston Dynamo, but Houston residents tell me they managed to get Final Four tickets at what seems like a steal.
Wade Paulson said, "I am going to pay face value."
For the cheap seats, that's $180 for both semifinal games and the championship game. Why did Paulson get such a great deal?
He said, "I have friends that had friends that are not going because of there are not good teams playing. So I got tickets because of that."
While face value seats are gone, the demand for this year's Final Four tournament has been low, so ticket brokers are offering what they say are pretty good deals on the three games at Reliant Stadium. This package is $250. It breaks down to $83 a game, plus admission to Bracket Town.
"It is two games Saturday and the Championship game on Monday," said Kayla Ramsey at the Houston Ticket Store. "That comes with the whole strip."
Ramsey tells us the prices are not what she anticipated because two teams, Butler and VCU, are not traditional power houses.
"I sold more last week than I have this week," Ramsey said. "But I think maybe all the fans that bought last week were hoping that maybe their team would get in."
Ramsey says that means plenty of people are selling tickets and this is the year for the average fan to see the Final Four without shelling out big bucks.
She said, "It is definitely a lifetime experience to attend a Final Four that is here in Houston this year. It's an opportunity that is probably the biggest to attend one of these events now, because the price is right."
According to Stubhub, the average price for the Final Four games is currently $631. That's less that last week when the price was $748, but the price is more than last year, which averaged $550. Again, we saw tickets for the both semifinal games and the championship game for selling for $250.
