Pedestrian fatally struck by car on South Loop

HOUSTON

The incident happened in the 800 block of the South Loop West about 1:35pm Tuesday. Police say the driver of a dark blue Nissan Maxima was traveling westbound of the South Loop West when he struck a pedestrian crossing the mainlanes of the freeway. The pedestrian died at the scene.

The male victim, between 50 and 55 years of age, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The investigation is continuing, police say.
