LA police investigating Lohan for jewelry theft

LOS ANGELES, CA Officer Bruce Borihanh says the case remains under investigation.

He says a jewelry store in the Venice area of Los Angeles, where Lohan now lives, reported a $2,500 piece of jewelry missing on Jan. 22.

Borihanh says a grand theft investigation was opened, and officers obtained a search warrant to search Lohan's home on Tuesday.

The jewelry was handed over to detectives before the warrant was executed. That was first reported by celebrity website RadarOnline.

Lohan remains on probation for a 2007 drunken driving case.

An e-mail to Lohan's lawyer was not immediately returned.
