HOUSTON --The Coast Guard suspended its search Thursday for a fisherman who went missing in Galveston Bay two days ago. Coast Guard assets began searching for 42-year-old Thein Nguyen after he was reported missing Tuesday evening. The Coast Guard says it, along with the Chambers County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Parks and Wildlife, searched more than 400 square miles in Trinity Bay, East Bay and Galveston Bay. Officials say Nguyen's 21-foot White Osprey sport fisher was found approximately 1 mile north of Smith Point Wednesday after a good Samaritan located fishing gear that was believed to have belonged to him, but the Anahuac resident wasn't aboard the vessel. Anyone with information about the missing man should call the Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston command center at 713-678-9057.
