Horse rescued from frigid waters by Houston SPCA

HOUSTON The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Department notified the Houston SPCA that a horse had accidentally fallen into the waters of Jones Creek and was unable to get out on his own. Rescuers used a harness to safely pull the 10-year-old horse out of the creek and reunite him with his owners. It took just under an hour for the team to get the horse back onto dry land.

Authorities say the horse had apparently gotten out of his paddock early this morning and walked over to the creek to get a drink of water. Unfortunately, on his way to the creek he slipped in and then became stuck.

A veterinarian will examine the horse to check for injuries from the accident.
