Police find mother of baby found dead in dumpster

HOUSTON A maintenance worker at the Windhsire Apartments in southeast Houston found the child, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have questioned the mother, but she has not been arrested or charged.

Investigators are still waiting for autopsy results before deciding what to do next in the case.

Ten years ago, the state of Texas adopted the Baby Moses Law which allows newborns to be left at fire or police stations or hospitals with no questions asked. The baby can be handed over anonymously, and will receive proper medical care.
