Dad charged with throwing, burning his 6-month-old baby

HOUSTON Trumaine Caston, 25, is charged with injury to a child. According to court documents, the incident happened on December 9, 2009 when Caston threw his baby boy to the ground, hit the baby with his hand and burned the baby with cigarettes. This is alleged to have happened while Caston tossed the baby high into the air and dropped him from a high height onto the bed.

The baby's mother, Barbara Caston, 29, has been charged with injury to a child - omission. Court documents state that she claims she told Trumaine Caston not to be so rough with the baby, but that he said he was "toughening him up." The baby had six broken ribs, bruises, cigarette burns and a hematoma to the ear from what court documents called the "rough play."

Trumaine Caston is being held on a $100,000 bond because he was out on bond for a drug possession conviction from 2007.

Barbara Caston has not yet appeared in court.
