Cross-dressing crook suspect done in by DNA

FRIENDSWOOD, TX Friendswood police have charged a Michigan man in a bank robbery that took place last March. The Wells Fargo Bank in the 3100 block of FM 528 was robbed on March 18, 2010.

Jeffery Larente, 36, of Midland, Michigan, was charged with aggravated Rrobbery on January 3, 2011. Larente is currently in jail in Michigan on unrelated charges.

Larente told detectives he had been working in Texas but had lost his job. He admitted to holding up the local bank not long after losing his job. Authorities say Larente attempted to disguise himself as a woman during the robbery and displayed a gun to the tellers.

In July 2010, Friendswood police received a DNA match from evidence collected in the investigation that they say linked Larente to the crime scene. Friendswood police worked with Michigan authorities to locate Larente and obtain DNA to be tested for confirmation.

Larente has a criminal history including charges for robbery, theft, domestic violence and narcotics.
