Houston Texans donate $500,000 to Houston Food Bank

HOUSTON

On Wednesday, the team donated half a million dollars to the Houston Food Bank. The money will help the food bank renovate an old building into the new food bank. The new building measures four times larger than the food bank's current storage facility.

The Texans said this is just part of how they want to tackle hunger in the city.

"In addition, various programming, our players being involved, our cheerleaders, our mascot doing a wide range of activities to address the problem of hunger, which is significant right down the street here in Houston," Houston Texans President Jamie Rootes said.

The new food bank facility opens in May and the cafe inside it will carry the nickname of Houston Texans Cafe.
