Controlled burn in Anahuac makes Houston hazy

If you've been noticing a haze hovering over the east side of town, it's probably smoke from a controlled burn. The Wildlife Refuge in Anahuac is burning several hundred acres of dead marsh grass to allow fresh grass to grow. Strong winds blew some of the smoke toward Houston yesterday.

The health department did not issue any warnings, but people with respiratory problems may want to stay indoors if the smoke is a problem. The burn could last up to a week.
