An HPD officer was injured after someone fired a gun at his leg last night. It happened just before 8pm at the Carriage Place Apartments on Wells Fargo at Overland Trail. Harris County deputies say two off-duty officers were working security for the complex in their police uniforms. The officers were in the process of arresting a man when a crowd formed and an unidentified person started shooting.

Investigators say everyone escaped before they could figure out who was responsible. The officer was treated and released from the hospital.
