Man charged in girlfriend's kidnapping, beating

HOUSTON Hassan Gaddi, 25, has been charged with aggravated assault and kidnapping.

Police say they were called out to the 3700 block of Edloe just after 4am Monday on a report of a man severely beating a woman and forcing her into his vehicle and fleeing. Police were then called to 10503 Rockley where Gaddi was arrested.

According to the police report, Gaddi took the victim to a secluded location and beat her, put her in a dumpster, and tied the dumpster shut, telling the victim he was "going to burn her alive." He then started pouring an unknown liquid into the dumpster.

Gaddi tried to ignite the liquid, but it wouldn't light. While Gaddi was looking through his vehicle for another lighting source, the victim managed to squeeze through a small opening of the trash bin, and get out.

While Gaddi was still searching through the passenger side of the vehicle, the victim got into the driver's side of the vehicle, and tried to drive off, dragging Gaddi a short distance. She then flagged down a deputy on the freeway feeder.

According to court records, Gaddi has a criminal history. He received deferred adjudication for assault of a family member in 2004, and he served 12 days in jail for a DUI in 2007.

Gaddi is being held without bond.
