Body found in bayou after crash yesterday

HOUSTON Police say they recovered the body about 11am in the water very close to the accident scene at Greens Bayou in east Houston after an HPD dive team and helicopter searched the bayou. Medical examiners have been called to take the remains for an autopsy.

On Wednesday around 2:30am, witnesses say the driver of a white pickup truck was speeding down the Normandy exit and ran through the guardrail along the feeder road. Police believe the pickup was involved in an earlier accident in the downtown area and was trying to flee the scene of the wreck.

A witness told us Wednesday because he was familiar with the sharp curve at the underpass, he drove down to check it out and found a damaged guardrail and tracks leading into the water.

The pickup truck was located and pulled from the water on Wednesday around 11am.
