Couple dies in apparent murder-suicide

HOUSTON Police say they responded to a shooting call around 10pm Sunday night at a home on Bantam Ridge at Court. They found a deceased male lying next to a woman who was still alive.

The female victim, Lisa Williams, 41, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the back and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The deceased male, Rykan Jones, 43, Williams' former husband, suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to witnesses, Jones came to the residence and got into an argument with Williams. Jones then shot Williams several times and then shot himself. HPD homicide says Williams returned home with some family members, then Jones apparently pulled out a gun, shot her and then himself.

Detectives say they were an estranged couple and divorcing, but it's unknown if that's what led to the shooting. The investigation is continuing.
