Crews find missing swimmer in San Jacinto River

HOUSTON The 23-year-old jumped off the bridge at Old Highway 90 around 6:30pm, but he never came back up from the water. Witnesses say he may have been injured upon impact. Boats quickly searched for the man, but he was never found.

Harris County sheriff's deputies say jumping off the bridge is dangerous.

"Very dangerous, sure at that height. You are looking at 35 feet or so. That's a pretty good little high dive. It is dark water. You can't see anything," Harris County Sheriff's Office Marine Division Maj. Martin O'Brien said. "You can't even see your hand in front of your face, especially when you get down low."

Crews resumed the search Monday morning and discovered the body just before 8:30am.
