Deputies: Teen shot in fight over girlfriend

Logan Thomas Sheffield is being held without bond on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to a Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office statement. He is accused of shooting a 17-year-old boy Sunday night in the 8600 block of Green Cedar Drive.

The teen and a friend were walking down the street when Sheffield confronted them, and they began to fight, according to the statement. During the fight, Sheffield allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot the teen's lower right leg.

The boy was transported to West Houston Medical Center, where he was treated for the gunshot wound and released.

Detectives later learned the fight stemmed from an ongoing dispute over a girlfriend, according to the statement.

Sheffield was arrested at his house shortly after the shooting and transported to Fort Bend County Jail. He also is being held on two outstanding warrants of assault and failure to appear. Bonds for those charges total $1,198.
