New flashing yellow signals promote safety

Don't be confused if you see a brand new type of traffic signal in Fort Bend County. Signals with flashing yellow arrows are being added at several intersections in Sugar Land. The yellow arrows are for drivers turning left, while oncoming drivers have a green light. If you get a flashing yellow light you can go carefully, just be sure to yield. Drivers have to stop at a solid yellow arrow before proceeding.

Researchers say studies have shown the yellow blinking light reduces crashes by as much as 30 percent over an eight year period.
