Fire strikes three homes in NE Houston

HOUSTON It started around 3am Saturday morning at a home on Market near Yates. When firefighters arrived, flames were shooting from a one-story home. Authorities say the fire had already started burning buildings on either side of the home. Firefighters say a lack of water wasn't a problem.

"This is an area that has a lot of hydrants in it. There are no issues with water just mainly that we had these exposures so close together. That's why it migrated from one house to the next," said Jack Williams, HFD Assistant Fire Chief.

Two of the homes were vacant. Arson is investigating what caused the fires. One of the empty homes was destroyed. The others had minor damage. No one was hurt.
