Houston police have charged eight people in a robbery sting that ended with an officer shooting one of the suspected thieves. Police were tipped off that several people were going to rob a business on Oak Meadows in southeast Houston on Saturday. Robbery investigators set up surveillance at the location and during that time, officers saw five suspects approaching, carrying weapons. Four of the suspects fled the scene, but one man pointed a gun at officers, and fearing for their safety, they shot at him. That suspect, Rosalio Ledesma, 28, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other suspects who fled were taken into custody a short time later. Four additional suspects involved in planning the robbery were also arrested.

Neither of the officers were injured. All eight of the suspects are charged with engaging in organized crime.
