California thieves make off with $1M in jewels

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA The Orange County Sheriff's Department says the robbery happened either late Tuesday or early Wednesday at Mission Jewelers.

Thieves tunneled in through the shared wall of a vacant shop next door and left through the back door of the jewelry store, after taking apart a metal security gate.

Investigators say it probably took more than one person to move the 1,000-pound safe.

Authorities gathered some evidence at the scene as well as surveillance video.
