Employees robbed at gunpoint in mall parking lot

SUGAR LAND, TX Shortly after 10:30pm Saturday, Sugar Land police were called to the First Colony Mall to investigate a robbery. According to police, after closing the store, the manager of Sheik Shoes and another employee were exiting the mall and walking to their vehicles in a parking lot on the south side of the mall.

They reportedly noticed a man in a gray hooded sweatshirt and black jeans standing near a tree in the parking lot, talking on a cell phone. The employees split up and headed to their respective vehicles.

The manager was approached from behind, and the man in the hooded sweatshirt demanded the money. A struggle ensued, and the suspect produced a pistol. The two men struggled for control of the weapon.

The second employee returned to assist his manager. One shot was fired. The suspect grabbed the night deposit and fled on foot.

There were no injuries. Sugar Land police have identified a person of interest.
