Teas Nursery property purchased by foundation

HOUSTON Last month, plans were announced to close the century-old nursery at 4400 Bellaire Boulevard, redevelop and sell the property to residential builders. After hearing the news, Jerry and Maury "Bo" Rubenstein approached the Teas family and negotiated the purchase of the five-acre property, so the land could be retained for the benefit of all Bellaire residents.

"Bo and Jerry are pleased their foundation can play a pivotal role for the quality of life for the residents of the City of Bellaire and the greater Houston area," said Scott Rubenstein of Pipeline Realty, who handled negotiations for the foundation.

Final plans and details for the future of the property have not been finalized. The Teas family will have occupancy rights until February 2010.

The Jerry and Maury Rubenstein Foundation supports Bellaire city services, parks and recreation facilities, as well as the JCC, M.D. Anderson, Texas Children's Hospital, and the UT Health Science Center.
