SPCA looking for new homes for seized birds

October 12, 2009 1:25:05 PM PDT
The Houston SPCA is searching for good homes for hundreds of birds seized in one of the largest animal cruelty cases in the US. More than 1,000 animals were rescued from deplorable conditions at a home in northwest Harris County last month. SPCA workers say about 225 birds are now available for adoption. They include finches, quakers, parrots and parakeets.

A judge is making the original owner of the animals sell his property to pay the SPCA for caring for the animals.
