Restaurant owner shot during robbery

HOUSTON The owner was about to open up shop when someone pulled a gun and demanded money. Police were in the area and say they witnessed the gunman shoot the woman in the leg before running away. Police were chasing the suspect when they heard more gunshots.

Victor Senties with the Houston Police Department said, "Officer, believing the shots were fired towards them and fearing for the safety of the people in the area, one of our officers discharged his weapon at least once."

Police found their suspect hiding in a trash can. Police say he could be charged with attempted capital murder of a police officer, if it is determined he was trying to shoot at police. The restaurant owner is expected to make a full recovery.
