A police officer involved in an accidental fatal shooting of a robbery victim two weeks ago again fired his weapon during an attempted robbery. San Antonio's police chief said Officer William Karman was in uniform but off-duty and eating breakfast at a restaurant Friday morning when two armed men demanded money from a cashier.

The San Antonio Express-News reported that Karman exchanged fire with the men, who fled the scene. Police say Karman was not hit but believes one of the suspects was.

On Aug. 30, Karman fatally shot a robbery victim after the alleged robber pointed a gun at the officer. Karman shot the suspect four times. He survived.

But another bullet fatally struck James Lee Whitehead in the chest.

Karman was cleared in the shooting.
