Crews have successfully capped a gas leak in Fort Bend County that's been sending gas, water and sand into the air for the last several days. The well blew out last Tuesday near Richmond. Neighbors had complained the fumes were making them sick, but county officials said the air was safe.

"We are happy to report that the gas flow has stopped and the well is now stabilized," reported John Iles, Louisiana Gas Development Corporation president. "We are grateful to the Wild Well Control professionals and for the help of the many state, county and local public officials over the past six days to help safeguard the community while reaching a successful conclusion to this incident."
