One dead in downtown murder

HOUSTON Police got a call around 2:30 this afternoon from a caller who said there was an unconscious person in the hotel. But when paramedics arrived, they found the victim in a vacant room on the second floor of the hotel with his throat slit.

The man has been identified as a hotel manager. Police say there are signs he struggled with his attacker and even broke a window to the room.

The hotel is just one block from the Toyota Center, but police say there were only four people staying there. Investigators are now interviewing possible witnesses.
