HPD: Obese inmate hides gun in rolls

HOUSTON George Vera was arrested Monday after being accused of selling bootlegged CDs. He was taken to the city jail then transferred to the county jail where he admitted he was hiding a 9-millimeter in the folds of his skin. Houston police say it is procedure to search the suspect numerous times between the arrest, booking, and jail transfer.

The police department and sheriff's department are both conducting internal investigations. Vera now faces an additional charge of possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility.
