New way to detect stolen vehicles

The Sugar Land Police Department is testing a new camera system that makes it a lot easier to locate stolen cars. The system, similar to one used by HPD, is mounted on the back of patrol cars and an scan thousands of license plates during a single patrol.

Using a national database it can identify stolen cars from all fifty states.
